I take for granted the fact that I live 15 minutes away from the ocean. When my sister was home from Emerald over the Easter break she was telling us that there were kids out there who had never seen the coastline in their lives. In the same way that I had never even seen snow until I went to Austria, much to the shock of the people I was talking to on the train, if you don’t live in an area that has these natural wonders, you miss out.
One of my favourite places to go for a walk is along the water at Sandgate, located just North of Brisbane. Unfortunately my recent working schedule has meant that I haven’t had a chance to in such a long time. In fact, it wasn’t until I thought about it that I realised I had only been for one walk at Sandgate since January. Thankfully, now that I am in a current state of looking-for-work (I don’t love the term unemployment) while waiting for my next adventure to begin, I have no excuse not to drive for 15 minutes to the water. I also have no excuse not to get back into my much-loved, but temporarily put-aside exercise routine.
My lovely best friend and her beautiful children Olivia (who I am learning is not only adorable, but far too smart for a 23 month old) and Hugo (my divine godson – need I say more?) are my Sandgate exercise session and girl chat partners. The entire 5km walk is just stunning and what with our never ending discussion list, is never long enough. I can’t wait for our next walk as I try to inspire her back to post-baby body and health fabulousness.
Perhaps this unemployment (let’s just call a spade a spade) thing is not so bad after all…
