Waking up to the sound of rain has to be one of the best feelings in the world.
The crisp air just makes you want to tuck in for the day and read books, watch movies, do little craft projects and play in the kitchen. Even when you know you have to go to work, enjoying those few extra minutes cuddled up under the doona just listening to the musical pattering of raindrops on the roof is luxurious.
It’s the freshness of the air. The smell of rain. The way that the droplets make everything sparkle in the overcast dim morning light. A bowl of warm cinnamon and pear oatmeal. An umbrella from Paris.
Capturing those perfect moments of calm before the downpour of life resumes.
- 1/3 cup rolled oats
- 1 tsp chia seeds (optional)
- 1 cup water or milk
- 1 ripe pear, diced or mashed
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
- 2 tbls Greek yoghurt
- 2 tbls granola
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp honey
- Add oats, chia seeds and water (or milk) to a small saucepan. Bring to boil. Stir in pear and vanilla and reduce heat to medium, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes.
- Pour into bowl and top with cinnamon, yoghurt, granola or nuts and drizzle over honey.
